OmegaAir

Since its introduction in 2014, The Malletech OmegaVibe has become the instrument of choice for the world’s top vibraphonists.  During those 10 years, we made more than 30 incremental improvements to the bars, tubes and frame.  From 2019 until now, we’ve worked intensely with TeamOmega (Stefon Harris, Joe Locke, Tony Miceli, and Mike Mainieri) on the next evolution of the OmegaVibe which offers a new standard of reliability, simplicity, portability and ease of pedaling. The OmegaAir is ready for your stage, studio, or the back seat of your car.

Shorter, Lighter – makes gigging a breeze!

The OmegaAir is 5 inches shorter and 15 pounds lighter than its predecessors.

Vertical Dampening

The OmegaAir features our patent-pending, dual-spring, vertical dampening system – the first ever.  The vertical motion of the damper bar (instead of pivoting on an arc like all previous vibraphones), contacts the sharps and naturals at the same moment.  You can precisely adjust the “pedal up” wetness or dryness to your personal preference through the dual spring towers. Simple, evenly-balanced dampening right out of the box – top to bottom, sharps to naturals.

Damper Pedal

Our patented damper pedal is fully adjustable for leverage, height, angle and damper bar release speed.  Comes with three positioning holes on the crossbar to fit your playing style. Customize the settings for a completely personalized relationship between you and your vibraphone.

Formula 6 Bars

Our proprietary “Formula 6” bar geometry and alloy, coupled with Malletech’s exclusive harmonic tuning process, produce the sweetest chords and strongest projection possible.  Our new “M-kote” eco-friendly finishing process comes standard on our black or silver bars.  Six additional anodized colors are available with the Custom and Custom Pro packages.

Vibrato Wings

Our hovering, elliptically-driven vibrato wings float over the resonators, producing velvety-smooth pulsations.  Removing all the hardware from inside the tubes improves the tuning of both the fundamental and overtones of the resonators.  When vibrato is not in use, the wings can be completely retracted, leaving the tops of the tubes completely open to capture every decibel and nuance that you produce.  Our near-silent, universal voltage motor (with world-wide compatibility) makes this the perfect instrument for recording.

Silent Frames

Our frames and resonators are still assembled with stainless steel lock nuts and bolts (no rivets, no fake resonators, no oval or square tubes – ever).  Just like our marimbas, the resonators sit on a suspension bridge system, eliminating all contact between the resonators rails and frame.  All these features assure a buzz-free / rattle-free lifetime of music making.

MJB Black

Our best selling marimba is now offered in a sleek, all black finish. The MJB Black 5.0-octave marimba contains all the features of its original counterpart:

  • Our standard-width Honduran rosewood bars, coupled with our massive, 4” slow-bent tunable resonators, provides the low-end power players crave without sacrificing wide reaches.
  • Belt-driven height adjustment, nuts-and-bolts resonator assembly, and our rubber “unibrackets” create a near-silent frame, which means all that you’ll hear is the beautiful music you create.
  • Our six-part resonators and easy-to-assemble frames make set-up by one person a breeze.

The MJB Black comes with an ebony-finished oak frame with black aluminum hardware and matte black aluminum resonators. The standard MJB Black has tunable resonators in the first two octaves; standard resonators for the rest of the instrument. Full-range tunable resonators are also available; contact your preferred retailer for pricing and availability.

Tour Bags

The LHS Tour Bag™ was the first large-capacity mallet bag with tiered pockets for marimbists and percussionists. First sold in 1979, it remains the standard by which others are compared. It’s the only bag made of soft, 100% cotton corduroy (not nylon “Cordura” or polyester) and it will give you a lifetime of use. It folds and zips into a shoulder bag, leaving the two larger outer score pockets accessible. The 16-inch-deep pockets in two tiers can each hold a full set of marimba or vibe mallets, two pairs of drumsticks or a pair of timpani mallets.

  • Two large exterior pockets for books, music, documents or other small percussion accessories
  • Four small pockets for triangle beaters, pencils & mobile phone
  • Shown holding 16 pairs – Can hold up to 16 sets of 4
  • Five hanger hooks allow bag to be hung from the bar posts of a keyboard percussion instrument
  • Use folded or fully opened on a stick tray
  • Includes adjustable, padded shoulder strap and two short carrying handles for carrying case
  • Self-repairing heavy-duty zipper

Instrument Cases

Malletech offers soft-sided Car Cases™ for many of our instruments. Rugged design, thick padding, heavy-duty straps, buckles and self-repairing zippers protect your musical investment and speed set-up and packing. Whether you’re on a gig around town or on tour across a continent, Car Cases are essential equipment.

Infinity Glockenspiel

The Malletech 2.6-octave “Infinity” Glockenspiel comes in a solid oak case with satin-grained bars.

The Steel

The vintage glockenspiels of the early 20th century were made from the hardest steel available. Malletech continues that tradition. Our design of the G2.6 “Infinity” Glock began by duplicating both the old steel formula and the dimensions of the best old glockenspiel bars.

The Suspension

Many orchestra bells made today still have the bars attached to the frame with screws, dampening vibrations. Our patented three-point support system allows each glockenspiel bar to ring freely, almost as if it were suspended on air. Just three tiny rubber points touch the underside of the bar, leaving the rest of the bar free of holes through the bars, screws, felt, fishing line, or other ring-deadening paraphernalia.

Environmentally Friendly

Malletech’s brand new eco-friendly finishing process sets a new standard for orchestra bell durability and tone, while eliminating all the polluting chemicals traditionally used in steel plating.

The Case

The bar rails in both cases are completely suspended over the resonance chamber and do not touch the floor of the case. All the contact points are insulated with neoprene rubber and 100% wool felt.

The Challenge

We invite you to compare the crystalline tonal brilliance and singing tone of our Infinity Glocks next to any other brand of orchestra bells — any vintage, any manufacturer, any price.

Orchestral

Our Vintage “Orchestral” Xylophones are based on the famous Leedy instrument that George Hamilton Green performed on throughout most of his career. In addition to our proprietary “dent-resistant” Honduran rosewood keyboards, we also offer a brighter, heavier and higher-density “Midnight” rosewood keyboard at an additional cost. May be ordered with “octave” tuning instead of “quint” if you want your xylophone to sound like a marimba castrato.

Bob Becker Soloist

Ragtime/Music of G.H. Green/Early Jazz

“After more than 75 years, a truly professional xylophone is again available. This time the quint tuning is perfect and the brass resonators are all individually tunable! The massive rosewood bars and beautiful art-deco frame complete the only contemporary xylopohne worthy of the great soloist tradition.” – Bob Becker, PAS Hall of Fame

Our Vintage “Soloist” Xylophone was developed with the input of the world’s greatest xylophonist, Bob Becker. It is modeled after the classic Deagan model known as the “Artists’ Special.” The bar geometry has been duplicated, including the unique rounded ends of the bars. It has the widest bars and biggest resonators of any xylophone ever made, giving Bob the power to blast through NEXUS or any other ensemble. While it is designed for the big sound required by a soloist, it is also perfect for a large symphony orchestra or wind group. This instrument is always “quint” tuned.

The OmegaVibe is ready for your stage, studio, or the back seat of your car.

The world’s greatest vibraphone is now smaller . . . yet greater.

  • The 2024 OmegaVibe features our patent-pending, dual-spring, vertical dampening system – the first ever.  The vertical motion of the damper bar (instead of pivoting on an arc like all previous vibraphones), contacts the sharps and naturals at the same moment.  You can precisely adjust the “pedal up” wetness or dryness to your personal preference through the dual spring towers. MJB Marimba

Michael J. Burritt, Professor of Percussion at the world renowned Eastman School of Music, came to Malletech in 2010 to lay down a challenge. He wanted low-octave reaches as easy as our Stiletto2 Marimba, but with a sound as big as our full-sized instruments. He wanted more highs on the highs and more lows on the lows. He wanted a completely new look. What he really wanted was a Malletech of the future, but he wanted it NOW.

  • Patented Super Smooth Technology (“SST”).
  • Patented metal-topped resonator tuners.
  • Massive, tunable 4-inch diameter, slow-bent, low resonators.
  • New, deep-bass bar geometry.
  • Extremely rigid, twin-screw, belt-driven height adjustment.
  • Harley look, Stradivarius sound. The Malletech of the future, here today.

The MJB Marimba comes with a mahogany-finished oak frame with aluminum hardware and aluminum resonators. The standard MJB Marimba has tunable resonators in the first two octaves; standard resonators for the rest of the instrument. Full-range tunable resonators are also available; contact your preferred retailer for pricing and availability.

Imperial Grand

A powerhouse of a marimba that can be heard over a symphony orchestra, but in unaccompanied repertoire it is responsive to every nuance of your pianissimo stroke.

  • Big, beautiful, round, brass resonators buffed to perfection
  • Sterling silver solder joints
  • Widest bass bars
  • Spring-balanced height adjustment with removable cranks
  • Six-section drop-in resonators – one person set up
  • Rock solid, completely adjustable everything

The Imperial Grand Marimba comes with a honey-finished oak frame with brass hardware and full-range tunable brass resonators.

Roadster

Another powerhouse marimba from Malletech, our Roadster is really an Imperial Grand with lighter-weight aluminum tubes instead of brass.

  • Big, beautiful “TIG,” aluminum resonator tubes – welded and buffed to perfection
  • Sterling silver solder joints
  • Spring-balanced height adjustment with removable cranks
  • Six-section drop-in resonators – one person set up
  • Rock solid, completely adjustable everything

The Roadster Marimba comes with an ebony-finished oak frame with aluminum hardware and aluminum resonators. The standard Roadster Marimba has tunable resonators in the first two octaves; standard resonators for the rest of the instrument. Full-range tunable resonators are also available; contact your preferred retailer for pricing and availability.

Stiletto

We have recently upgraded our Stiletto keyboard geometry and increased the bass resonator diameters without increasing the size of the low octave reaches.  More powerful, cleaner bass, less non-harmonic overtones and shorter reaches to the far side of the sharps for stick clicks on pieces such as “Rhythmic Caprice.” Our Stiletto2 has the same width bass bars and resonator diameters as the biggest 5.0 marimba made by the biggest musical instrument company in the world, but with a “normal” 22-inch C1 to C2 reach!  It’s an engineering and acoustical miracle that you have to hear, see and play on to fully appreciate.

Same solid frame, height adjustment, 6-section drop-in resonator system and tunable tubes like an Imperial or Roadster, but smaller, lighter and less expensive.

It’s a pretty “sharp, cutting-edge” package… get it?

The Stiletto Marimba comes with a honey-finished oak frame with black aluminum hardware and black aluminum resonators. The standard Stiletto Marimba has tunable resonators in the first 1.5 octaves; standard resonators for the rest of the instrument. Full-range tunable resonators are also available; contact your preferred retailer for pricing and availability.
