The models in the Stevens line are the smoothest rolling mallets for solo marimba playing available anywhere in the world. Each model has four to six distinct layers of construction which work with the player to generate maximum bar sound, minimize contact noise and offer superb, low-dynamic control, all without sacrificing any high volume potential. They are medium weight, perfectly balanced and therefore easy to maneuver through today’s challenging solo literature. A set of 1s, 5s and 10s are all you need for the Bach Cello Suites. Select birch handles.
All the bass, without all the weight. In the hands of a skilled performer, continuous organ-style chorale playing is effortless.
A wide-range, dark-toned mallet designed for rich struck note passages and general chorale style playing.
Model LS10 is warm and full-bodied up to forte where a hint of brightness begins to project.
A full-range, medium-soft to hard mallet that speaks clearly in all registers, yet still rolls smoothly. The most popular “general use” mallet in the Stevens Series. The L version is smaller and lighter.
With a “breaking point” between mezzo-forte and forte that is wider than that of the LS27Z, it is easier to control, but less radical in its extremes.
This is a general-use mallet that is medium to very hard. Model LS20 is articulate and bright in tone above mezzo forte.
